A picture really is worth a thousand words. It's not just one of those "truths" that doesn't make sense upon closer scrutiny (of course a lost item will always be in the "last place you look"- why would you keep on looking?) For instance, I could have written this blog post without a picture and just described the photograph above of a stormy sky. I could write about the fierce black clouds, the jagged white streaks of lightning cracking up the gloomy sky and illuminating it with a mystical, otherworldly glow. I could write about the lone dash of red light at the bottom and the sudden awareness that somebody besides the photographer caught this moment in time- alone and inconspicuous amidst the full forces of nature. I could write about the cloud shaped like an alligators' head, backlit by the charge of electricity. Or instead, I could show you this picture and let it tell the full story. Aren't you glad I did?
Showing you a picture of the stormy sky (as opposed to simply telling you about it) ads a whole new dimension to this post- and the same applies to your own informational/ marketing content. Creating an outstanding website, profile, blog post, article or advertisement doesn't just depend on the quality or quantity of your written content- your visual content also needs to be spot-on!
