The symmetry from the light reflections in this picture is eye-catching, but what stands out to me about this picture is that I get a physical sensation from looking at it. While there are plenty of photos that make you laugh or feel a certain emotion, it's rarer to find an image that actually makes you feel a particular physical sensation just from looking at it. But this picture? I almost wrap my arms around my chest and huddle up as an automatic response! I know straight away that if I found myself in this scene all of a sudden, I'd huddle up and get under the awning of the building. This picture makes me flash back to the times I'd feel that heightened sense of comfort and gratitude that's felt when you manage to take shelter during a downpour and save yourself getting drenched. Isn't it funny how something as simple as having coverage over your head can make you feel so cosy and satisfied just through a change in the weather? I'm not the sort of person who likes standing around doing nothing, but when it's pouring rain and cold and the wind is blasting along the street or the mall, I feel totally content to stand under the shelter I've found, keeping dry, watching the world go by in it's glistening, gloomy beauty. It's the same kind of sensation I get when I listen to a lot of The Smiths back catalogue!
The only problem remaining would be weighing up how long I stayed in that spot for keeping dry, versus making the gamble to step out and head on home- however far away that was!
