Take a moment to think about it...
How much have you spent on conferences?
On training programs?
On webinars or workshops or course material or anything else you invested in because there was something it promised that made you go "Hey- this will direct me to that pot of gold I'm after!"
So you willingly sign up-
Place your order-
Register-
Book your accomodation-
And get ready for amazing, fortune- turning revelations.
How does that end up?
Take a look through all those folders, booklets, CD's, e-books or (if you're really old-school) those tapes.
There's your answer....
How many of them have you not cracked open or listened to since the day you got them? You came home from that workshop or conference, hand sore from taking notes and your mind buzzing with big, bold ideas and game-changing revelations about what would add another digit to your turnover in the next 12 months. Yet you've still got nothing to show for it?
How did it fade out to this?
You see, the reason people waste thousands of dollars on these programs, conferences or courses has nothing to do with the content. 90 percent of it depends on how we treat our take-home material after its' done.
To squeeze ALL the juice out of that material and get the results you signed up for, here's a few easy ways to make it happen:
#1 Give It A Rest.
After you come back from any conference or workshop, give it a rest. No doubt your mind is buzzing from everything you've taken in. Mentally? You're overloaded. I know you want nothing more than to take action straight away- and for some people this works best for them. But for the majority of you? Now is the time to take a break, do something else, go back to business or (especially if you've been to one of those Tony Robbins- style conferences that carry long into the night, for days on end), take a couple of days off. Take it easy and recharge.
Then, the following week, come back...
#2 Revision Time
Once you're back, re-read the material and double check if you missed anything worth noting. Of the stuff that stood out and the notes you made, now is the time to list all of your follow-up items. This is your action plan. With the information and training that you paid good money to gain access to, how do you plan to turn it from stuff you thought of to stuff that you make happen? Take all the notes required on what you need to do from here.
# 3 Lay Down Your Plans
This is where a Weekly Planner shows its' real value (see more on it here: scribecopywriting.weebly.com/notes-from-the-scribe/why-a-powerful-planner-is-your-roadmap-to-reward). Remember that you're not Superman. You can't leap a tall building in a single bound. You climb it step-by-step. So what small steps can you take in the coming week to start bringing these great new ideas to life? What do you need to investigate or buy, who do you need to contact or meet with in order for your magnificent vision to manifest?
Plot out your first steps up the skyscraper of success, and make it happen!
# 4 Organise
You don't want to lose the wealth of information you've got- how often have you wanted to review a folder or notes from a conference or workshop past and you can't find what you're looking for? You turn half the house upside-down trying to find something that sat on your desk or coffee table- right in front of you- for months.
So- get organised! The loose scraps of paper and booklets- scan or journal the important stuff on your PC, laptop or tablet and then bin the rest. As for actual folders- find a place to store them that's easily accessed if (sorry- when) you want to go back and find that useful thing you read that one time. Being organised saves you time, and time is MONEY!
Doing these 4 things everytime you pick up new course material or come back from a conference with bold new ideas buzzing, means that you get maximum value from every minute and every dollar that you spend to learn.
